Insight-Driven Therapy

Serving individuals, couples, and families.

Aligning Awareness and Compassion

We use a variety of inquiries together with fundamental psychodynamic tools to unearth core affective structures. Awareness is the first step, followed by connection to causal points and nodes of suffering. The aim is to resolve, through compassion and patience, longstanding patterns that are no longer serving us. There is a special joy in this work when we discover previously unconscious realities, and then develop some facility with modifying them.

Spirituality

I think of spirituality as “our relationship with the Universe,” or “our place in Eternity.” This is germane to therapy regardless of one’s ideological or religious position.

Existential and Identity Issues

It’s often the case that our creative relationship with reality is at the root of our challenges. This is particularly highlighted when we are delaying or avoiding the facing of developmental obstacles.

Relationships

In relationships we often find that we think we are getting what we want, when in actuality we are getting what we need. Every relationship, whether with family, couples, friends, etc., can be a crucible for transformation.

Dream Analysis

The unconscious is real, powerful, and to a degree accessible. Dreams provide clues to what’s happening in the Self, from the mundane to deeply spiritual layers.

Addiction and Substance Use

Traditional modalities, support for appropriate recovery programs, and deep resolution of driving patterns of emotional wounding and discomfort.

Life Coaching

Focused support and consultation on a broad range of issues. Here is where psychology, philosophy, and spirituality can meet everyday matters. No need in all cases for in-depth psychotherapy!

Alexander Palache Gutterman, MA/LPC

As a licensed professional counselor, I draw from an extensive background in psychological, philosophical, and cultural education and training. I initially earned degrees with High Honors from Dartmouth (1986) and subsequently UC Davis (1995). After obtaining my MA in counseling psychology from the Adler Graduate School (2021), I worked for a year at Genesis Recovery Services in Minnesota and then four years at Jaywalker Lodge in Colorado before concentrating on my private practice (Inner Geometry, PLLC). It is a great privilege and a great joy to be able to walk this path with my clients.
